Biographical Sketch of the Candidate<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"\"Luisa Langford Correia dos Santos teaches Translation and Interpreting at Porto\u2019s\u00a0ISCAP (Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto)<\/a>\u00a0in the Degree on Administrative Assistance Translation. She holds a Master Degree on English Language, Literature and Culture (Universidade do Minho). Ms Langford has worked as a freelance interpreter and as a translator of literary and technical texts.<\/p>\n

Since the year 2007 when she enlisted in the Translation and Paratranslation Doctoral Programme, Ms Langford has actively colaborated with the\u00a0Research Group\u00a0T&P<\/a>, preparing for instance T&P\u00a02008 fieldwork outing to the Portuguese town of\u00a0Fafe<\/a>. From this observation of the various paratranslating views of urban space the present thesis was developed. In the sessions of the\u00a0II Vigo International Colloquium on Paratranslation. Second Session<\/a><\/em>, Ms Langford presented the paper entitled \u00abParatranslation of the urban space in Fafe II – An example of micro-cosmopolitanism<\/a>\u00bb. At the\u00a0VI Congresso Nacional da Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Portuguesa de Literatura Comparada (APLC)<\/a><\/em>, she presented the paper \u00abBrief Comparative Analysis of Si questo \u00e8 un Uomo, by Primo Levi and Athens \u2013 Auschwitz, by Errikos Sevillias<\/a>\u00bb. It should also be mentioned that Ms Langford was one of the PhD candidates selected to participate in a special research panel on Translation and Paratranslation at the\u00a0VII International Translation Conference: Paratextual Elements in Translation<\/a><\/em>, together with 9 other papers under the direction of\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Yuste Fr\u00edas<\/a>; she presented the paper\u00a0\u00abParatranslation of the urban space: a walk in the Portuguese town of Fafe<\/a>\u00bb\"\"<\/p>\n
