A profesora da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela Manoli Palacios estar\u00e1 na nosa facultade o vindeiro venres d\u00eda 2 de marzo \u00e1s 10.30 para ofrecernos a conferencia titulada \u201cMigrant Shores\u201d: poes\u00eda das emigrantes en Irlanda, Galicia e Marrocos<\/strong>. Ademais da profesora Palacios intervir\u00e1 tam\u00e9n Keith Payne, poeta, profesor no Centro de linguas da nosa universidade e un dos tradutores que interve\u00f1en no libro. A actividade ser\u00e1 no Sal\u00f3n de graos e esperamos contar coa vosa presenza.<\/p>\n Manuela Palacios, da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, \u00e9 investigadora de x\u00e9nero, traductora, editora e estudiosa da relaci\u00f3n entre\u00a0x\u00e9nero e traduci\u00f3n. A profesora Palacios presentar\u00e1 unha conferencia en torno \u00e1 converxencia dos temas: feminismo, traduci\u00f3n e migraci\u00f3n. A profesora Palacios \u00e9 na actualidade a Investigadora principal dun Proxecto sobre eco-feminismo nas literaturas irlandesa e galega e ten editado numerosos publicaci\u00f3ns de poes\u00eda de mulleres galegas e irlandesas nas que ademais de cuesti\u00f3ns de x\u00e9nero aborda aspectos tales como a mobilidade e a \u00e9tica da traduci\u00f3n. Palacios disertar\u00e1 sobre todas estas converxencias, centr\u00e1ndose especialmente no seu novo libro Migrant Shores: Irish, Moroccan & Galician Poetry<\/a>, County Claire (Irlanda), Salmon Poetry, 2017.<\/p>\n \n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n Obxectivos da conferencia:<\/p>\n 1- Reflexionar sobre cuesti\u00f3ns relativas \u00e1 traduci\u00f3n como mediaci\u00f3n cultural, social e de x\u00e9nero e en relaci\u00f3n ao concepto de mobilidade e migraci\u00f3n no que os dereitos das\/dos cidad\u00e1ns e cidad\u00e1s a desenvolver identidades heterox\u00e9neas, h\u00edbridas e non hexem\u00f3nicas se ven ameazados.<\/p>\n 2- Ofrecer a posibilidade de outorgar un espazo de reflexi\u00f3n privilexiado sobre o papel da traduci\u00f3n como mediaci\u00f3n no contextos da redefinici\u00f3n de cidadan\u00eda no caso concreto das mulleres migrantes.<\/p>\n 3- Dar a oportunidade ao alumnado e profesorado da Universidade de Vigo de poder debater sobre cuesti\u00f3ns de actualidade cunha investigadora e editora cunha ampla traxectoria e prestixio internacionais.<\/p>\n Un fragmento da Introduci\u00f3n da editora do libro:<\/p>\n As we move through the world, we carry our home-bodies with us, ever so contingently\u2026 and we provisionally inhabit other spaces, other countries, although home and country may be too heavy burdens for our persevering, yet vulnerable, bodies, as this anthology will illustrate. \nMigrant Shores brings together writers from three Atlantic countries, Morocco, Galicia and Ireland, aware as they are of the shared ordeal of migration and exile at different times of history.3 In her poem \u201cDaughters of Colony\u201d the Irish poet Eavan Boland identifies the otherwhereness of the colonial subject and writes about the loss of an ideal national identity and the exploration of a painfully hybrid one.4 This feeling of dislocation is no doubt common to the people of Ireland, Morocco and Galicia, both due to their colonial background \u2015 notwithstanding its different manifestations \u2015 and because of their chronic experience of migration whether to neighbouring European countries or to more distant lands.
\nThough apparently universal, migration and the discourses about it are gendered. For this reason, this anthology aims at a notable representation of female voices that may examine the way gender and mobility affect each other, so as to retrieve women\u2019s disregarded diaspora.5 Many poems in this compilation consider the predicament of the migrant woman: her body, hopes, fears and frustrations, her national and ethnic (dis)affection and, in sum, her otherwhereness.
\nI have asked seven poets from Morocco and another seven from Galicia to provide a poem on the topic of migration and exile, and then asked fourteen Irish poets to both translate the Moroccan and Galician poems into English and to write a response poem \u2015 a good number of poems have been written expressly for this anthology. This project has a gratifying precedent in the anthology To the Winds Our Sails: Irish Writers Translate Galician Poetry, which Mary O\u2019Donnell proposed we co-edited back in 2010 and which was beautifully produced by Salmon Poetry.6 Migrant Shores attests to the rich variety of poetry in the three communities by including writers from different generations, male and female, many of whom enjoy the recognition of their consolidated writing careers, but this anthology also features new poets with their audacious proposals.<\/p>\n
