Marc Bernabé
(L’Ametlla del Vallès, Barcelona, 1976) is a translator and interpreter from Japanese, with a major focus on manga and anime translation—a field in which he has translated hundreds of volumes and episodes since the year 2000.
The number of manga published outside of Japan is constantly growing, and in the case of the Spanish language, we have, at the moment, official publications in Spain, Argentina, and México. Furthermore, Japanese is, most likely, the second most-translated language in the literature field in Spain, only behind English. But what is the process behind a manga translation? What has to be taken into account when translating not only words but also concepts and customs from such an apparently foreign culture? Marc Bernabé, a professional manga translator with over 15 years of experience and around 1000 translated volumes, will show us the ins and outs of his career.
