This workshop will focus on explaining the basic concepts of video game translation, proofreading, and linguistic testing, and how all of these processes, together with the text’s cultural adaptation, shape what we know today as “video game localization”.
During the workshop, we will see what it’s like to work within this industry, its intricacies and demands (such as a recurring lack of context or tight deadlines), the text typologies that may appear, and how to deal with them (from specific terminology to humor adaptation), and more.
We will also have a practical part, with real cases, to learn about the characteristics and situations that we might have to handle, exemplify how communication with clients works, and solve any doubts that may arise during the process.
