Biomedical Translation

The translation of biomedical texts is nowadays a field with good growth perspectives in the translation market. It focuses on a complex and broad field that includes a wide variety of communicative situations, as well as a wide number of multilingual contacts.

The aim of this subject is to offer an introduction that allows students to begin to know the field of biomedical translation. To develop this aim, we will first analyze the specific characteristics of this field and the main problems that can be found in biomedical texts when translating them into English. Secondly, a selection of sources and documentation resources useful for translation will be presented. Thirdly, the main lines of research developed in relation to the translation of biomedical texts will be discussed.
