Legal-Administrative Translation: German – Galician – German / German – Spanish - German

In this subject, students will study the translation of administrative texts in depth, and they will be introduced to the translation of texts in the legal field. Students will learn how to prepare, understand, and translate texts in these fields. The subject will also include sworn translation techniques.

After an introduction to the German and Spanish legal systems, in which we will compare structures and procedures, students will learn the tools and means necessary to deal with these types of texts from the linguistic and content point of view. Students will work with administrative, notarial, legislative, and judicial documents. From contrastive point of view, the most characteristic terminology and phraseological elements will be studied, as well as the composition and structure of each of the textual genres dealt with.

We will mainly be practicing translation into Galician/Spanish, although we will also include translation activities into German.
