Lara Domínguez Araújo

PhD in Translation and Intercultural Studies from the Universidade Autónoma de Barcelona. She has a postgraduate degree in conference interpreting from the Universidade de Lisboa (EMCI) and a diploma in advanced studies (DEA) in Translation and Paratranslation from the Universidade de Vigo, with a research project on the teaching of consecutive interpreting. She is an expert in Oral Language for the Media (USC), Specialist in Dubbing (UVigo) and she has a bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting (UVigo). She has worked as a freelance English and Portuguese interpreter and translator from 2006 to 2021.

As an interpreter she has more than 1000 h of experience in congresses and conferences, in several fields. As for professional translation, after working as an intern in the European Commission and in Hermes Traducciones, she started as a freelancer with a wide variety of orders from agencies, foundations, publishing houses and direct clients. In the literary field, she has translated the novels The Virgin and the Gypsy by D.H. Lawrence, Istambul by Orhan Pamuk or Terrorist by John Updike.

Associate lecturer at the Universidade de Vigo in the bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting from 2006 to 2021, and full-time lecturer since 2022. Guest lecturer on interpreting in several institutions ( Xunta de Galicia, the Universidad de La Laguna, the ISCAP of Porto and the Universidade de Lisboa).

Since 2022 she also teaches in the doctoral program in Translation and Paratranslation.
